  2. It is interesting, and ridiculous nor rulers always need to re-invent the past and glorify. Milan Kundera wrote that the Soviets were obsessed with changing the past – instead of the future. I found Hungarians in the 2990s sometimes very tiresome with their need to keep looking back, find heroes and reasons to be victims.
    Ultimately though it must be a cheap and essy way of control. It depends who you have to glorify of course. I met Romanians who assured me their Count Dracula from Transilvania was s great man.
